The obvious partners are local cycling groups, cycle shops and the transport sections of local authorities, who may already run some cycle maintenance schemes in your area. They may be able to provide funding and staff or volunteers.

Cycle maintenance schemes fit well with Travel Plans, particularly for schools and workplaces. You could see if local employers might be willing to help fund Dr Bikes or a track pump for staff. After all it’s much cheaper than providing an extra car parking space.

Some police have helped run cycle maintenance courses as part of diversionary activities to engage young people and reduce anti-social behaviour. Police also participate with Dr Bike schemes to encourage registration of cycle frame numbers on www.immobilise.com or security tagging, to make it easier to reunite stolen cycles with their owners.
