A volunteer run bus has provided a vital link betwen an Essex village and the nearest train station for over 30 years

Although the village of Coggeshall has a regular commercial bus service between Chelmsford and Colchester, this does not serve the nearest rail station, which is at Kelvedon. Since 1982, a community bus shuttles to and from the station in the morning and evening on the three mile journey to the station to provide for commuters. The trip each way costs £1, much cheaper than the cost of car parking at the station.  Use is made of the bus at other times, such for a weekly trip to the market and for various social purposes, such as the local Over-Sixties club.

Staffed entirely by volunteers, it is self-financing and now operates using a 2012 Mercedes Benz minibus. Besides an SMS service to allow people to know how the bus is running, an iphone app has recently been introduced too.
